David calls this meter his "most useful and cost-effective piece of equipment." The Mel 8704 KII (K2) combines a sensitive LCD readout EMF meter, a red LED flashlight, ambient temperature thermometer and the popular KII (K2) meter all in one! Since maneuverability and weight are considerations on long investigations, eliminating several separate pieces is a major plus. The benefit of having the ambient temp meter is obvious; while reading an EMF, a cold spot can also be detected. David does carry a laser spot temp gun, but states that it is only usable to detect surface temps, like where a spirit may have been sitting. Much has been made of the usefulness of the K2 Meter on the various paranormal TV shows. They seem very effective methods of communicating with an intelligent spirit by directing them to "light up the lights" to answer questions. David has found that they are more sensitive to weaker fields than the EMF measurement function also. A neat trick used by David is to place The Mel on the floor under a dowsing rod session so spirit presence can be measured with a light show on the K2 bar during rod movement!
