The Highwayman's Blog

Wow, My eyes hurt and my brain is equally taxed. What have I been doing? I have been reading and watching people wax philosophically and pseudo-scientifically about; Paranormal Unity. The paranormal community as a whole is one big social experiment to me (one of my ParaXperiments?) and I love to watch what goes on. It's people watching at its finest. Such a diverse group of people and personalities, all trying to make their opinion matter in the overall scheme of things. The paranormal field has grown beyond expected proportions. It has no boundaries as to who is who. No hierarchy, no level of knowledge standards, nothing to keep anyone from saying they matter and anyone else being able to say they don't. Sure there are people with years and years of study and experience, yet they become merely figureheads, to be listened to at a conference or on a paranormal radio program. But do they really know more about what is going on? Not really. Joe Blow with a mini cassette recorder has just as good a chance of getting an important EVP as a “senior investigator” standing next to him. I'm preaching to the choir I know, but it frustrates me so to see some Bozo thinking he is all that knocking things that are important to others and may be good for all of us in the end. They make videos for YouTube or post on blog sites driveling on about “paranormal individuality.” How they “don't want to be unified with someone who doesn't know what real evidence is” and “continually post evidence that is false or easily discredited.” By who? Who is qualified to say for sure that something is not what it appears to be? Listen carefully: We have no scientific proof of anything we search for! No one knows for sure what is real and what is not. I say I am an “expert” at photographic images; yes an expert at images, not at paranormal evidence within. I can give an opinion on what I see based on 40 years of professional photography experience but if I can't explain it, I label it “unexplained” not ever saying for sure it is paranormal or not. I always qualify things like a lawyer, whose words can be taken as legal action or threat . “Possibly paranormal,” “anomalous” or just plain “I dunno.”
To me unity means united and unified discussions and activities among persons of a common interest, in this case, the paranormal. In the real world, we could call Bozo A a separatist, a word associated with those who oppose a certain unifying ideal government or cause. Unity is not a game plan for them, disruption is. They seem to have this clouded view of what organized unity means. It doesn't mean Bozo A accepts the rookies orbs as evidence, it means he joins in common discussion of orbs and what they may or may not be. Does Bozo A, who thinks he needs individuality, contribute to the knowledge base by refusing to cooperate with his peers? Of course not, in the scheme of things paranormal, he is another black-t-shirt-wearing, arms-folded squealing mouse in an Australian corn bin (ever seen those?) He is not contributing, therefore, he is irrelevant in the battle to make the paranormal into legitimate scientific study. All one needs to do is look at history. Anytime something needed to be made clear or action taken, unity of mind and actions was needed. Individuals did not win our independence, and as far as difference of opinions, study the Civil War. Examples of unity and separatists, and those in between.
An army may have different ideals in fighting a battle, but they coordinate a plan of attack together, they don't swim up on the beach as individuals and get picked off one at a time. One says artillery wins the war, another air support, another infantry, but they all are unified in one goal: winning the war. They share intelligence, form a battle plan and execute it. They don't whine when something is wrong with another branch, they communicate and adapt and help each other. They don't push the greenhorns to the front, they help them get experience in the back and let the seasoned fighters take the lead.. Everyone shares and takes the loses and wins in stride and keeps on with the fight.
I hope you can see the visual model I have tried to build for you and compare it to the paranormal and our needs. Don't show your ignorance by railing against something that has been shown to work time after time. The only thing it shows is that with Paranormal Unity, one becomes part of the advancement and does not necessarily stand out. Something tells me most of these guys are in this for ego trips and don't have ANY desire to really find the truth, but hope they can be the next Zach or Grant. Fight on for unity my friends.
About me? Well that's simple, I am fortunate enough to have done many things. None of them grandly, none of them poorly. I have learned much along the way, thinking God has been preparing me for this adventure for a long time. I am at a stage in my life were having a big house and new SUV just don't appeal to me, I am divorced, my children grown past needing me much, and my outlook on the rest of my life has changed dramatically. Since my stroke/heart attack on Halloween of 2011, my priorities are enjoying the rest of my life with each moment, and pursuing my love of the paranormal. My father (Big Roy as he was known), was a legendary Illinois deep coal miner. After 25 years in that dark pit close to hell, he enjoyed only 4 years of retirement before an Aortic Anuerysm took him out in 8 hours. I have one just like it, and I'm just not gonna go down that way. I am going to follow my dreams, and if I have to wash dishes for BlackBird's next tank of gas, so be it!! It is my hope that here I can share my adventures with you, too. Maybe someday you will reach this point, and can join me on the road. We will live never knowing what awaits us around the next turn, but always aware that ghosts, (entities, spirits, revenants, spectors, phantasms) Cryptids (Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Yeti, Yowie, Chupacabra, Champ) or our cute little big-eyed grey guys are ready to cause our skin to crawl, our hair to stand on end, and our minds to race with possibilities!
Never, never, never give up (W. Churchill)
